Earlybird Series – 19th April 2026

Race 1
The wind filled in gently, as predicted, building from a flat calm, up to a gentle force 2–3.

The race officer set a flattened triangle course (to reduce the risk of boats drifting off down tide in the main channel) with a dropped pin at the start line.
Steve and Neil led from the start, and the start line order remained unchanged throughout the race.

Race 2
At the beginning of Race 2, the safety boat observed that the leeward mark had begun to drift. It later settled, but the race officer adjusted the course by moving the windward mark inshore, creating a more defined upwind tacking leg. This effectively turned the course into windward–leeward.
Steve again led off the line, closely followed by the rest of the fleet and at the leeward mark it was a tight bunch. As Steve and Neil pulled away, Carmel and Andy engaged in a tacking duel, finishing close together on the water
Trevor had his own battle with his asymmetric kite, which pulled him offshore and, given with such a short course, offered limited advantage. Still, it added a welcome splash of colour to the scene !

Thanks to the duty and safety team, Angela, Sam, Xavier and help from Jon. Not the most exciting days sailing but very pleasant and a welcome relief from the conditions of the previous weekend !

Earlybird Series – 12th April 2026

It was blowing force 5-6 gusting top end of 6 with huge waves on the slipway, but 6 boats managed to launch and proceeded to have the time of their lives. Multiple capsizes, except for Nigel, kept the patrol boat busy. Nigel won both races with Danny (in his new Radial rig) in second ahead of Neil in the first race and Jason (also in a Radial but pretending to be a full rig) in second ahead of Neil in the second race.
